Επίσκεψη στο Κυθηραϊκό Φωτογραφικό Αρχείο
Το Κυθηραϊκό Φωτογραφικό Αρχείο, επισήμως πια μέρος των Γενικών Αρχείων του Κράτους–Τμήμα Κυθήρων, εγκαινιάσθηκε το 2023. Πρωτοβουλία του Γιάννη Σταθάτου υπό την αιγίδα του ΚΙΠΑ, στεγάζεται σε δύο δωμάτιο στο ισόγειο του ιστορικού κτιρίου των ΓΑΚ στο κάστρο Κυθήρων. Σκοπός του είναι να στεγάσει και να προστατεύσει την φωτογραφική κληρονομιά των Κυθήρων, ιστορική αλλά και σύγχρονη. Τον πυρήνα του αρχείου αποτελούν οι συλλογές αρνητικών του σκαπανέα Κυθηρίου φωτογράφου Παναγιώτη Φατσέα και του γιου του Μανώλη, στις οποίες έχει προστεθεί ποικιλία φωτογραφικού υλικού από επίσημα γαμήλια πορτραίτα από την Αυστραλία και τις ΗΠΑ μέχρι έργα σύγχρονων Ελλήνων φωτογράφων. Χάρη στην οικονομική βοήθεια ιδιωτών της Κυθηραϊκής διασποράς, ένα από τα δωμάτια του Αρχείου έχει μετατραπεί σε μικρό εκθεσιακό χώρο για εναλλασσόμενες εκθέσεις, ανοιχτό στο κοινό Δευτέρα με Παρασκευή, 09:00 με 13:00.
Προγραμματίζονται δύο επισκέψεις του Αρχείου για τα μέλη στις αρχές του καλοκαιριού, μια για αγγλόφωνους και μία για ελληνόφωνους.
Visit to the Kythera Photographic Archive
The Kythera Photographic Archive, now officially a part of the Greek State Archives, was launched in 2023 by John Stathatos under the auspices of KIPA. Housed in two rooms of the ground floor of the historic Kythera State Archives building in Chora Castle. Its purpose is to house a permanent collection of photographs of Kythera and of Kytherians both here and in the Diaspora, ranging from early 19th century portraits to contemporary imagery in many different media, from glass negatives to digital photos. The core of the collection are the large archives of father and son Kytherian photographers Panayotis and Manolis Fatseas, covering a period of some sixty years between them, but much additional material has by now been added, from formal wedding portraits from Australia and the USA to work by well-known eponymous Greek photographers. With financial assistance from private Diaspora donors, one of the two rooms comprising the Archive has been designed as a small exhibition space for rotating exhibitions, and is open to the public Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 13:00.
There will be two guided tours of the Archive and the current exhibition organised by the Society at the beginning of the summer season, one for English speakers and one for Greek speakers, both limited to a maximum of ten people.
